In addition, because your business name "Jim Cntni Design" is a trade name in KY, you need to register it with a DBA, LLC or corporation.

Furthermore, since the items you will use for home decor or other design project are a tangible product, they are is subject to sales tax, so you are required to obtain a seller's permit to collect sales tax for these items. You can use the same license to buy the items wholesale, i.e., tax-free as well.

That said, you also may need insurance as a contract requirement to work with certain realtors or other businesses that call on you for staging.BUSINESS INSURANCE.

So long as you don't label your product as a cleanser or deodorant, you're probably ok with a "handmade soap" designation, and you are off the hook from both the CPSC and the FDA as far as going through any vigorous approval of your product.

That said, you still need to label it as soap if it is soap under the CPSC guidelines for labeling and under the FDA if you claim it is cosmetic, i.e., that it is deodorant.
